I'd have to agree with this.  I had thought about the same thing with my
language bias of choice (Java) :), but if anyone feels strongly about it,
nothing to stop you from porting the existing code to your language, and
then develop the enhancements you want.  If it truly is better to others
as well as yourself it will grow a following on its own, either casual
users who like the new enhancements you offer or developers who agree that
it is a better development platform and contribute more.  If you aren't a
contributor, it is hard to push a change like that on active developers
who may not be as familiar.  If you are a contributor then the "open
source market" will take care of things on its own.
